Pupils will have the opportunity to gain a broad understanding of the different elements of a business as it grows over time. They will learn case study materials and be exposed to real business situations and problems.
The course will cover:
Enterprise – where do business ideas come from?;
Ownership – different legal structures e.g. sole traders, PLCs, etc;
Marketing – understanding adverts and what’s involved;
Finance – simple accounts and costs for a business;
People in Business – selection and recruitment of business employees; and
Organisation of production – how products are made.
Pupils will be expected to have interest and enthusiasm in business and how it is organised. Pupils should be eager to work independently and be prepared to develop ICT skills in context with business situations as well as developing report writing and research skills.
The course is 75% examination and 25% controlled assessment.
